Weaver

31-year-old Sun was born in Lahanam village. She married her husband Ley when she was 22 and now has 2 sons and a 7-month- old baby daughter.

She learned how to weave from her mother at the age of 12. She loves to dye with natural colors because “using the natural materials is safer than using chemical colors”.

Although she enjoys weaving traditional temple textiles, Sun’s favorite thing is to weave the abstract Ikat pattern. She says she loves “the anticipation and excitement I feel waiting to see the finished cloth come to life – it’s a surprise every time!”
